The former topman behind the success of the PlayStation and current Chief Executive Officer of Sony, Kazuo Hirai, is the designated speaker for the Tech Titans keynote series at the 2014 Consumer Electronics Show (CES). Hirai's address is scheduled on January 7 at the Palazzo Ballroom of The Venetian in Las Vegas, Nevada. The consumer technologies fair will run until January 10.

Kirai is expected to take the stage at 8:30 am following a speech by Gary Shapiro, president and CEO of the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) that produces the International CES. Shapiro will deliver the annual "State of the Industry Address."

Kirai is expected to share his insights about the latest innovations in the technology industry, particularly on the intersection of hardware and content. His talk is part of the Tech Titans series that feature the top executives of the most prominent technology firms. The venue was created so the CEOs can share their knowledge and vision of future technologies that will shape the next innovations for services, products, and networks.

Kirai was appointed to the board of Sony in June 2012. Prior to that he was named the company's CEO, president, and corporate executive officer in April of the same year. Hirai worked for CBS/Sony Inc., a division now known as Sony Music Entertainment Japan, when he started his career with the company. He later joined Sony Computer Entertainment America in 1995 before being appointed as its chief operating officer and president of the company's game business. In the second quarter of 2011, he was the company's top executive for its consumer electronics business.

"Sony is a global brand synonymous with innovation and cutting-edge technology. There is no better way to kick off the world's greatest innovation event than a keynote from one of the leading brands in the industry, bringing content and technology together to transform the way we live, work and play. We are thrilled to welcome Kaz Hirai to the 2014 CES keynote stage and are excited to hear his insight surrounding the next generation of consumer technology," said Shapiro.

Aside from the Tech Titan Series, CES also hosts the Technology Innovators keynote series. Through this forum, innovators, disruptors, and thought leaders will share their visions and big ideas that can change how technology is being used by everyone.
