Earlier this week, Marvel opened up its vast Marvel Unlimited catalog of digital comics, currently 15,000+ titles strong, for a one-month membership at just 99¢. Marvel's distinguished competition, DC Comics, is not offering a similar sale, but digital storefront Comixology has stepped up to the plate to even the odds a bit.

As you may have heard, 2014 is Batman's 75th anniversary. Since there's no better time than San Diego Comic-Con to celebrate comic books, digital retailer Comixology has marked a huge collection of comic books starring Batman down to just $1 each during the Con. Fortunately, you don't have to be at Comic-Con to enjoy this sale; it's available online to all. You can snag your favorites at the Comixology website or via your mobile device's free Comixology app.

Comixology's Batman sale is comprised of a whopping 750 comic book issues from every end of the Batverse. Batman's "New 52" adventures are there, including the first 20 or so issues of "Batman," "Detective Comics" and "Superman/Batman." There are also hundreds of classic Batman titles and many landmark story arcs, as well. For example, all four issues of Frank Miller's legendary "The Dark Knight Returns" are in there, meaning you can get that entire story for just $4. That's a major saving, considering that normally it would be $12 for the same four issues. The collected graphic novel typically sells both digitally and in print for $20.

Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale's 13-issue story "The Long Halloween" can be owned for just $13; normally it would run you twice as much. Likewise, Loeb and Sale's complete "Dark Victory" is $14 instead of $28. Loeb and Jim Lee's 12-issue "Hush" is part of the mix, as is the Jason Todd/Red Hood shocker, the dual "Under the Hood" and "Family Reunion" arcs. Bruce Wayne's son, Damian Wayne, is introduced in Grant Morrison's pre-New 52 run, along with other arcs from Morrison's now-legendary run, including "Batman R.I.P."

Other comics on sale include issues of "Legends of the Dark Knight," "Shadow of the Bat" and Frank Miller's 10-issue "All Star Batman & Robin, the Boy Wonder." Historians and collectors will love the opportunity to get their hands on the first 25 issues of "Batman" ever, starting all the way back in 1940.

It's a terrific opportunity to fill out your Batman comics collection, so don't wait. The Comixology sale runs through July 29, 2014.
