Good news for Android users, the Google Play Store finally allows split payments!

Previously, users with insufficient Play Store credit had to buy credit at fixed amounts just to complete their purchase, even if one is just a couple of cents short. Google has finally altered the annoying feature, and now gives users the option to pay with their Play Store credit and finish the remaining balance with a different payment method.

The option comes in the form of a check box when one purchases media content or apps from the virtual store.

"The current official behavior when you don't have enough in Google Play balance to cover a purchase is to force you to use a card, PayPal, or carrier billing. However, some users are now being offered the option to apply their credit to such a purchase," notes an Android Police report.

Ticking this check box will enable the user to deploy their leftover Play Store credits and use other payment methods as usual to pay the difference. The checkbox can be toggled off or on and so it's pretty easy to use.

It seems that this feature is still in its initial stages. However, since Google usually rolls out updates in phases, it seems that this change is being pushed out slowly as well. It is not known when the functionality will make its way to all users.

Those who have already benefitted from the feature reveal that the partial payment works for movies and apps. It is likely that the feature will support all content on the Google Play Store.
