Google Play Store is getting a major overhaul, and bona fide Googler Kirill Grouchnikov has teased us with some screenshots and sweet new animations on his Google+ page. According to him, it's coming real #soon.

Just recently, Google announced that it will increase the size limit that developers can upload to the Play Store from 50 MB to 100 MB. Along with the Play Store's renovation, Android mobile users can expect an improved app center that offers an even more impressive selection and richer apps.

Aside from a new intro splash, what turns heads in this big makeover is the new layout. On the Play Store's main page, there will be only two sections, which the Apps & Games and Entertainment. Pre-update, the Play Store displays Apps, Games, Movies & TV, Music, Books and Newsstand. But the subcategories won't exactly be gone, though.

Based on Grouchnikov's teaser, the six familiar subcategories along with some new ones will be divided between the two major sections. On the Apps & Games section, it will get Top Charts, Games, Categories, Family and more. On the other hand, the Entertainment section will get Movies & TV, Music, Books, Newsstand and more.

Next up is the new header. While recommendations are useful to find apps and games that appeal to users' individual tastes without having to sift through the entire Play Store, Google makes use of the space at the top to feature plenty of apps, games, movies, books or anything else for more choices.

The Play Store — before this new update rolls out — is by no means unsightly or difficult to navigate, but Grouchnikov feels that it doesn't really match the other Google apps.

"I've always thought that Play Store was rather ugly compared to other Google apps," he writes on his Google+ page.

It's still too early to say that this is what the face of Play Store will really be, as it's still a work in progress, not to mention that Grouchnikov keeps posting even more new modifications here and there, leaving Android users all stirred up in his wake.
