Video game developer Double Fine Productions will launch remastered versions of Tim Schafer's Full Throttle and Day of the Tentacle in 2016 and 2017 across multiple platforms, including the PC, PS4 and PS Vita.

Schafer announced the news during the PlayStation Experience 2015 keynote in San Francisco, making the day of fans of the classic point-and-click adventure games.

The two upcoming games will follow up on the remastered Grim Fandango, where Full Throttle is the last piece to complete the trilogy of Schafer's games from LucasArts, which is where he used to work.

"Full Throttle Remastered will feature all new artwork, with high resolution backgrounds and animation, with each frame being repainted by hand. We'll be aiming to restore the sound and music to a higher quality," Double Fine says.

On top of the overall improvements in graphics and audio, the developer will also pack in a ton of special features, including commentary tracks, concept artwork and "many other things" that the team can think of.

Just like with the other remakes of Grim Fandango and Day of the Tentacle, the company will also cram in the original and unaltered version of Full Throttle in the remastered edition.

Day of the Tentacle also got the same treatment, and it'll come with a concept art browser and a recorded commentary track of the original creators, including Schafer, Dave Grossman, Larry Ahern, Peter Chan, Peter McConnell and Clint Bajakian.

"Day of the Tentacle is back in a remastered edition that features all new hand-drawn, high resolution artwork, with remastered audio, music and sound effects," Double Fine's post reads.

Remastered editions of Day of the Tentacle and Full Throttle will go official on the PC, PS4 and PS Vita in 2016 and 2017 respectively, where the former will also come to the Mac platform.
