People have been strapping the small and portable GoPro cameras to anything and everything -- you name it, and it has probably been done. It usually results in a cool new perspective on the world, but when you combine a GoPro with the tire of a moving car you get something really spectacular.

Vimeo user Ryan Fox of Wisconsin, in classic fashion, fastened his GoPro to his car tire with duct tape before going on a night drive. He stops to put some gas in his car before driving off, and that is when the fun begins.

As the camera is locked in place by the tape, it is always in the center of the frame with the rest of the world rotating around it. The rest of the world begins swirling around it at high speeds as the tires begin to rotate faster and faster, very quickly becoming a kaleidoscope of neon colors and brake lights all blended together to form a mesmerizing piece of video. Fox says he was driving at around 45 mph and the camera didn't budge, resulting in the video below.

It is surprising to think that with the number of people experimenting with the handy camera that nobody has tried to do this before (or at least hasn't uploaded it to the web.) It seems safe to assume it won't stay like that for long, as people are sure to be inspired after watching the video to try this for themselves and see what kind of unique imagery they can create with the bright lights and neon signs of the city streets.
