Getting an Oculus Rift on launch day just became a much better deal, as the company has announced that every preorder will come bundled with a free game.

That game is none other than the space dog-fighting simulator EVE Valkyrie, a spin-off of the popular EVE: Online MMO. The game is launching first on the Oculus Rift, and now, every person who preorders the VR headset will have a game to enjoy right out of the box.

Developer CCD demoed the game last March, but we haven't seen much else from the title since then.

Oculus founder Palmer Luckey says the game "perfectly captures the promise of immersive gaming." The Oculus Rift will be the first VR headset commercially-available to the masses when it launches in the first quarter of 2016, though a specific release date (or price, for that matter) has yet to be revealed. It's also unknown how much EVE Valkyrie would cost as a standalone title, were it not bundled for free with the headset.

If the Oculus Rift does release as planned, that will put it out ahead of HTC's Vive headset and Sony's PlayStation VR. Both are scheduled to release in the first half of next year. EVE Valkyrie will be releasing for those headsets too, but will premiere first on Oculus Rift, which is a given considering it will be the only headset available at the time. It's not currently known when preorders for the VR headset will go live or how much gamers will have to put down to reserve one, but we'll keep you updated.
