The first trailer for X-Men: Apocalypse is here, and wow, there is a lot going on. There's a new X-Men team, featuring Jean Grey, Nightcrawler and Cyclops; citywide destruction and chaos; and behind all of it—Apocalypse himself.

Portrayed more like a charismatic force of nature than a mustache-twirling super villain, this version of Apocalypse is like a mutated Jim Jones, gathering people for his cause to destroy the lesser beings of society in order to build a new world on top of their bones.

Played by Oscar Isaac, this new look at Apocalypse is far more intimidating and faithful to the comics than his original Entertainment Weekly reveal from earlier in the year. This is what fans have been waiting for since the franchise first began on the big screen in 2000.

X-Men: Apocalypse will hit theaters on May 27, 2016.
