The Internet is going to be dangerous place the next few days for those who are looking to avoid all spoilers for Star Wars: The Force Awakens. As more and more people see the movie ahead of its premiere date later this week, the chances of stumbling across a vital plot point from the film will only continue to increase. Come Friday, spoilers will be everywhere.

Unless you use the Star Wars Spoiler Blocker for Google Chrome. It's a free extension crafted by Alex Jumašev and Max Al Farakh designed to warn you of any website that may contain spoilers from the new film. If you find yourself on a page discussing Star Wars, the extension will take control by blurring the page and overlaying a "Star Wars Potential Spoilers Ahead" screen over the top of it. If you're willing to risk it, you can click "proceed anyway" to continue browsing the page.

How exactly the extension works is still unclear, but it looks like the spoiler blocker simply scans a webpage for Star Wars-related words to determine the potential chance for spoilers. As a result, there will probably be plenty of pages blocked that aren't necessarily spoilery, considering half the Internet is talking about Star Wars right now.

That seems to be what user reviews for the extension are saying. The extension might be a little too aggressive to actually be useful, as it doesn't just block content related to Star Wars: The Force Awakens. On the other hand, perhaps it's better to be safe than sorry in this situation? Spoilers can come from anywhere, at anytime. Maybe it's just best to log off the web entirely until you see the movie. Desperate times call for desperate measures, and people sure will be upset if the return of Jar Jar Binks is spoiled for them ahead of time.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens arrives on Dec. 17.
