The opening weekend of "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" shows that the newest title from the saga might top "Avatar" in box-office numbers, and there is already talk of DVD and Blu-ray variants.

Some fans will probably watch the latest movie in theatres a couple of times, but for a proper "Star Wars" marathon, you need to have the titles ready for home enjoyment.

Disney and Lucasfilm give Force enthusiasts the new hope of enjoying the seventh title in the series from the comfort of their own couch, early in 2016.

Giant e-commerce retailer Amazon sells the Blu-ray variant of the movie on its website for $25, but it gives no exact release date. Other vendors, such as JB Hi-Fi tell clients that they can expect the single disc DVD and double disc Blu-ray on Apr. 20.

One Amazon user lent a hand to Disney and highlighted a strategy which might help boost the sales of the DVD and Blu-ray releases

"Disney, if you want to increase the sales of this DVD and Blu-ray: give the option of buying it as part of a set that includes the original UNALTERED theatrical versions of the original trilogy on Blu-ray. If you do that, just name your price [and I will buy it with both hands]" user Obi Wan wrote at the end of his review.

For now, no retailer ias taking pre-orders for the 3D Blu-ray variant, and a reason for that might be the that the 2D will take the cake, at least for now.

Another big name who takes pre-orders for the "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" is Google. The tech giant charges $19.99 to preorder the HD version or a smaller fee of $14.99 for the SD variant, and the company promises that your library will get it immediately when it launches. What Google offers are digital copies, so the good news is the stock will not run out.

In case you were wondering when Google will ship its HD/SD version of "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," we have some bad news. The company joins Amazon in keeping mum about the release dates, so it is premature to estimate when they will arrive. However, Google claims that once they settle on a release date, clients will get a notification via email.

Those who tolerate less-than-stellar resolutions could check it out.

With a trip on Google Play, "Star Wars" fans can reserve their own copy of the movie, whenever the home release happens.

Music aficionados who got engulfed in the thrilling and immersive soundtrack can find it on iTunes and Google Play Music, as well as on Apple Music or Spotify.
