LG will soon unveil its latest robot vacuum called the Hom-Bot Turbo+ that not only will clean the consumer's floors, but will also act as a security guard as it makes its rounds throughout the home.

While it looks similar to the popular Roomba robot vacuum, LG's Hom-Bot Turbo+ sets itself apart from the pack by featuring an augmented reality function. By using the accompanying Home-Joy user interface to issue instructions to the Hom-Bot, users can point their phone's camera at a specific section of floor where they want the device to clean up. Turbo+  then focuses on that area, perfect for when there is an accidental spill that needs to be mopped up.

The Turbo+ is equipped with Triple Eye camera sensors, which help it avoid obstacles, record and track each area it's already cleaned so it never misses a spot, while the device's front camera transmits a live feed to the user's phone as part of its "Home-View" feature. This means the consumer can have the robot vacuum tidy up a bit when they aren't home, but are expecting guests.

That also means users can watch this live feed to see if everything is OK in the house when they are away.  Because the Turbo+ has all these cameras, what better way to put them to use then to have them transform the vacuum cleaner into a robot guard dog? Using the feature called Home-Guard, the Hom-Bot Turbo+ will also transmit photos to the users's smartphone if it detects any movement in the house.

Hom-Bot Turbo+ is equipped with a 80V lithium-ion battery that will run for 40 minutes of continuous cleaning — or  guarding — before needing to be charged.

LG will unveil the Hom-Bot Turbo+ at CES 2016 that begins on Jan. 6.
