IDW Publishing announced on Monday the very first Marvel Comics Artist's Edition to feature Jack Kirby's work.

Titled Jack Kirby's the Mighty Thor Artist's Edition, the 15-inch by 22-inch hardcover collection includes classic complete stories such from "Journey to Mystery" #11, #117, #118 and more, along with a gallery section.

"I've had the great pleasure of working with one of the most creative men in comics — the great Jack Kirby," Stan Lee said in a statement, "whose magnificent artwork and wonderful story sense have rightly earned him the nickname 'King Kirby.' He had the ability to take any theme and make it look spectacular due to the power and the brilliance of his artwork. If ever a writer had the perfect collaborator, I was lucky to have had the brilliant and inimitable Jack Kirby."

IDW has published special editions from comics greats as part of its Artist Edition series, but it's about time they feature the master himself who is known for co-creating Captain America, The Fantastic Four, The Incredible Hulk, Ant-Man, Iron Man and more.

"Jack Kirby is still the visual heart of the Marvel style, so having an opportunity to experience his originals at the size they were drawn, corrections and all, is a rare and valuable opportunity for any aficionado of the comic book mediums," Marvel's SVP and executive editor Tom Brevoort said in a statement.

"Without Jack Kirby, the comic books we know and love would not exist," Special Projects Editor Scott Dunbier added. "His work influenced and shaped the entire art form. It's as simple as that."

Jack Kirby's the Mighty Thor Artist's Edition will hit stores this May.
