First Response, in partnership with Qualcomm, has developed a pregnancy test aimed at going beyond just telling the user whether or not she's pregnant.

The test looks and works just like any other pregnancy test on the market and uses urine samples to determine whether or not there's a baby on the way. The process, however, is made a lot less complicated with the iOS or Android app, which walks the user through each step.

The test itself starts with giving instructions on how to take a urine sample, after which, it offers calming distractions for the user while she waits for the result.

Compared with a traditional pregnancy test, the test makes it easy to tell whether or not the user is actually pregnant, however, according to the company, the most useful part of the process is what happens after the test.

If it turns out that the user is not pregnant, the app will offer information and resources about getting pregnant, with the information being tailored to the user based on a quick series of questions that were asked at the start. If, however, the user is pregnant, information about what to do next, like confirming the results with a doctor, is shown.

The app also doubles as a period tracker, which can be an important tool for those who are trying to get pregnant.

Of course, all this added value doesn't come cheap — or at least not as cheap as a standard pregnancy test. The First Response Pregnancy Pro test has a price tag of between $15 and $22, quite a bit more than a standard pregnancy test. It's also not reusable, meaning that after the test, you'll have to get rid of the whole thing.
