Marvel Comics is welcoming Miles Morales to its Universe by giving fans a sneak peak inside its new upcoming series titled Spider-Man #1.

Although the character has had his own solo series before, Marvel previously announced Miles Morales will be the star of its Spider-Man relaunch after the success of Secret Wars.

Written by co-creators Brian Michael Bendis (Uncanny X-Men) with art by Sara Pichelli (Runaways), Morales will enter the mainstream Marvel Universe with the story following the events of Secret Wars.

"A lot has transpired in the eight months since Secret Wars and an entire new universe awaits him — friend and foe alike," Marvel writes.

Morales will join as a new member of the Avengers, alongside Iron Man, Captain America and Thor, but that doesn't mean that the original Spider-Man, Peter Park won't also be featured in Spider-Man #1. Parker is reported to serve as a mentor to Morales in the series.

Morales first made his debut in Marvel's alternative universe, the Ultimate line, back in 2011. He is a half African-American and half Puerto Rican teenager from Brooklyn, and will bring more diversity to Marvel's mainstream line.
