It's barely been a week since the much-awaited patch 2.4.0 update for Diablo III: Reaper of Souls was pushed out for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and now users who have updated are complaining of performance issues.

Diablo III fans who have updated to the latest patch are disgruntled as they are encountering framerate drops, as well as input lags after updating the game. While PC users seem to be safe for now, PS4 and Xbox One users are facing the problems.

As we reported, the patch 2.4.0 update brought a plethora of new features gamers' way, especially the new area Greyhollow Island. However, it seems that the lure and excitement of new features and expansions seems to be short-lived. Gamers are complaining that not only are the framerate's cropping, the game even crashes once the patch's installation is complete.

When exploring outdoor areas, the framerate suddenly drops despite nothing happening on the user's screen.

Aggrieved users are now taking to developer Blizzard's Battlenet forum to express their concerns. Interestingly, users in North America are not the only ones affected as those located in the EU have also complained of similar issues.

"Yea I've been getting lag and framerate drops since this patch. Maybe test and see if it does it when you play not connected to the Internet," noted a gamer.

"Under the last patch, 2.3.0 (which was the first patch I ever had), the game ran smoothly, no issues whatsoever, be it Adventure Mode Torment 1 through 4 single and multiplayer.

After downloading and installing the latest patch, 2.4, my game experiences the following:

1. Noticeable Micro-stuttering/frame lag walking around New Tristram or other towns. Difficulty: Torment 3.

2. Noticeable Micro-stuttering/frame lag walking around and fighting in Adventure Mode in the Expanded Zones. Difficulty: Torment 3.

3. Lag in menus and when buttons are pushed," complained another user.

For those thinking it could possibly be a server issue, users point out that they continue to encounter the issues even when they are not online.

"It's not a server issue, since the problems persist even when not connected to the internet. I'm sure there will be a hotfix or two, and hopefully they will iron out these performance issues," said a console user.

While Blizzard is yet to issue a hotfix, it has acknowledged that the problems are plaguing Diablo III users. Andrew Kauz, the community manager for Diablo III responded to the forum posts and asked gamers to offer additional information to help Blizzard counter the problem and offer a solution.

The developer is of the belief that the performance problems could potentially be due to the lack of storage space available on the Xbox One or PS4.

"It came to our attention that the amount of remaining storage on your system might impact this issue. Just to make sure we're looking at every possible cause, please let us know how much storage space you have remaining if you are experiencing this issue," noted Nevalistis, the forum's community manager.
