Undertale is one of those games that is almost impossible to explain, but there is one aspect of it that doesn't need an explanation: people love it. The $9.99 indie RPG dominated Steam's sale charts when it first released, boasts more than 31,000 overwhelmingly positive user reviews, has gone on to win numerous awards, and now, four months after the game first released, it has a new update.

Although creator Toby Fox has previously said updates to the game would only fix bugs and tweak certain gameplay elements, not add new content, that's not exactly what has happened. In addition to the various bug fixes (via Polygon and Underminers subreddit), stat changes and a tweak to one of the game's more difficult puzzles, Undertale super fans have mined through the game's code to discover new lines of dialogue that just might point towards the inclusion of brand new character.

Fox says fans datamining the game isn't to blame for him not including substantial new content in Undertale's update.

Other tweaks found in the patch include a fix for a glitch that was preventing players from obtaining the game's pacifist ending and a slight change in color for certain types of attacks.

All in all, it's truly not a whole lot to go crazy over, but Undertale fans are having a blast discovering all the new dialogue options. The game's quirky and hilarious writing (and quirky and hilarious characters) is what makes the game shine, so having more of it to discover is a treat for players who can't get enough of Fox's instant indie classic.
