The Samsung Galaxy Alpha has been making headlines almost a daily basis. An official press image of the smartphone has leaked and it confirms the metal-framed Galaxy Alpha's specs.

Samsung is currently preparing to announce two of the company's most important smartphones yet. The handsets are the company's response to the impending arrival of the 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch iPhone 6. The company's current flagship Galaxy S5 hasn't lived up to expectations and is actually selling less than Apple's almost year old iPhone 5s. Samsung needs a hit and it believes that giving customers something they've been asking the company for years, a more premium build to its smartphones, the Galaxy Alpha will be Samsung's first smartphone to sport a chamfered edge metal frame virtually identical to Apple's iPhone 5/5s. The Galaxy Alpha also has a 4.7-inch display just like the iPhone 6.

The Samsung Galaxy Alpha was most recently spotted passing through the FCC and appeared in a leaked image that showed the upcoming smartphone next to the Samsung Galaxy S5. Most of the latest reports claim Samsung will introduce the smartphone on Aug. 13, but a new report claims it will be announced at the end of August and start of September. If true, this could mean the handset might be announced at Samsung's Unpacked event scheduled for Sept. 3, where the company is widely expected to announce the Galaxy Note 4 and Gear 2 Solo smartwatch, which has a phone built into the device.

The same source posted what appears to be official Samsung marketing material for the Galaxy Alpha. The image confirms the handset will feature a 4.7-inch display with a resolution of 1080 x 720. It will ship with 2GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage and Samsung has decided to not include a microSD expansion slot. The source also claims a 64GB model will also be released. It will have a 12-megapixel rear camera and 2.1-megapixel front-facing shooter.

We'll keep you posted on all Samsung Galaxy Alpha information and there's still a good chance we could see the smartphone announced this week as previous reports have claimed.
