The metal framed Samsung Galaxy Alpha will reportedly be unveiled on August 13.  The smartphone's complete specifications have been confirmed via AnTuTu benchmark.

Samsung recently posted its first year-over-year decline in net profit, as sales of its flagship Galaxy S5 smartphone have been a disappointment for the company.  During its earnings call with investors, a Samsung executive confirmed that the company was planning to launch two new smartphones in the coming weeks and that one would feature a large display and the other would be made out of "new materials. "

The executive would not elaborate but we already have a pretty good idea that the large device is the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 phablet, which is expected to be unveiled on Sept. 3 in Berlin.  The handset is expected to feature a 5.7-inch 2560 x 1440 Quad HD display, retina scanner, and will reportedly be the first smartphone to ship with a built-in UV sensor that will measure the sun's ultraviolet (UV) radiation and provide users with information on how to protect themselves based on the readings.

The second smartphone made out of "new materials" is widely expected to be the metal-framed Samsung Galaxy Alpha which is a departure from the all-plastic materials the company traditionally uses in all of its handsets. A new report claims that Samsung will officially announce the Galaxy Alpha a few weeks ahead of the Galaxy Note 4.

All About Samsung is reporting (translated) that Samsung will put an end to months of speculation and unveil the Galaxy Alpha on Aug. 13. The site has the Galaxy Alpha in its possession and ran the handset through AnTuTu benchmark. The results of the benchmark confirm all of the smartphone's specifications. The Samsung Galaxy Alpha that was tested has a model number of SM-G850F and includes a 4.8-inch 1280 x 720 display with a pixel density of 320 pixels per inch (ppi). It will be powered by a Samsung Exynos 5433 octa-core processor with a Mali-T628 GPU (graphics processing unit), and 2GB of RAM. The handset will ship with 32 GB of internal storage, no microSD expansion slot, and run Android 4.4.4 KitKat.

The Galaxy Alpha will sport a 12-megapixel rear camera and 2-megapixel front-facing camera for video chat and selfies. It will also include a fingerprint scanner, heart rate sensors, and a removable battery.

The Samsung Galaxy Alpha had an AnTuTu benchmark score of 38658, which puts it ahead of both the Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy S4. This is likely due to the fact that the Note 3 and Galaxy S4 both have a higher-resolution 1920 x 1080 displays, compared to the Galaxy Alpha's 720p display.

We'll keep you up to date on any new Samsung Galaxy Alpha information as it becomes available.
