Last week, Arrow confirmed that the person the series has teased as dead all season long is not Felicity, although she suffered a near-fatal injury during a shoot-out with Damien Darhk's "ghosts." However, Felicity didn't escape the situation without some serious injuries.

Even after multiple surgeries, Felicity is now paralyzed and must accept that she'll probably spend the rest of her life in a wheelchair.

Of course, this is TV and usually when doctors say "for life," there's a catch and later on, those paralyzed people are on their feet again soon. Not to mention, this is a show that also deals with metahumans and supernatural elements. Anything can happen and miracles are not impossible.

But for now, Felicity is in a wheelchair and she's not handling it very well, at least in a clip released by Entertainment Weekly from tonight's episode.

"The wheelchair is the beginning of Felicity's story this year, not the end of it," said executive producer Marc Guggenheim. "I read online people saying, 'Oh, lighter season my ass.' I would argue that for Arrow, this is lighter. What's particularly lighter is Felicity's reaction to her injury and the way she handles it."

It seems that Felicity deals with life in a wheelchair by popping pills and talking with a goth version of herself.

"Last year, there would've been a lot of sobbing and crying," said Guggenheim. "This year, you'll see that, in many ways, Felicity comes into her own in a much greater way than she would have had she not faced this adversity. Whatever doesn't kill you, makes you stronger. You're really going to see that in the upcoming episodes with Felicity."

But Felicity isn't the only character on Arrow with issues to deal with. John Diggle still struggles with making amends with his brother, one of Darhk's ghosts. Tonight's episode will take a deeper look into the relationship between the two brothers, including showing viewers several flashbacks to when they were both in Afghanistan and closer than they are now.

Tonight also marks the return of Amanda Waller, and it's obvious that her appearance is part of the story involving Diggle and his brother.

Arrow airs Wednesdays on The CW.
