Writers need to be disciplined, able to block everything out of their minds to only focus on the task at hand — clearly expressing their thoughts.

The Flowstate writing app hopes to help, in that regard. The app's aim is to keep writers writing — or letting it flow, if you will — devoid of any distractions.

The way it works is users select how long they want to write before entering a full-screen writing session. That means no minimized Spotify or YouTube windows. The timers can be set from one minute for quick thoughts all the way up to three hours for longer pieces.

From there, if you abort your writing task earlier than the time you set or remain idle without typing for longer than five seconds, all your work will automatically be deleted, as explained under its App Store description. What's painful about the app is that it will show you your words disappearing right before your very eyes due to your own inability to keep your thoughts going. That's probably why the minds behind Flowstate call it "the most dangerous app."

Essentially, the only way to secure your work is to keep writing, letting your thoughts flow like water and letting your fingers do the talking until the timed writing session you set up is complete.

Flowstate is available for download exclusively on the OS X and iOS platforms.
