Grand Theft Auto fans on Android are in for a treat, as GTA: Liberty City Stories finally hits Google Play.

GTA: Liberty City Stories launched on iOS back in December 2015 as a separate title in the franchise. This version includes characters from GTA 3, along with some of the storyline, but it's not necessarily a central part of the main Grand Theft Auto series.

Upon the game's mobile debut on iOS, Rockstar Games said that GTA: Liberty City Stories would eventually hit Android as well. The company offered no additional details at that point, so it remained unclear just when the title would hit Google Play.

Fast forward to the present date and GTA: Liberty City Stories is now available for Android as well, and it's currently touting a promotional discount. As part of a limited-time deal to celebrate its release on Android, the title is now 40 percent off its regular price. More specifically, fans can now purchase the game for just $3.99, but this promotional discount will expire on Feb. 24.

As for the game itself, the Android port of GTA: Liberty City Stories comes with some neat improvements that enhance the overall experience compared to the version for other platforms. Improved touch controls, enhanced graphics and cross-platform saving options are just a few highlights, but there are more treats in store.

"Get ready to head back to the East Coast as Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories returns to mobile devices," reads the game's description on Google Play. "With shorter, streamlined missions designed with mobile gameplay in mind, this definitive open-world adventure has been remastered for Android with extensive graphic enhancements, rebalanced touch controls and cross platform saves."

GTA: Liberty City Stories also features controller support, which means that gamers can connect a compatible Bluetooth gamepad if they so prefer.

"Just like the iOS version released in December, Liberty City Stories for Android includes updated real time lighting and shadows, upgraded textures and art, greater draw distance, performance enhancements for touch-based gaming like analog steering and rebalanced targeting, and cross-platform cloud saves via Social Club," Rockstar reveals in its announcement.

The game is compatible with Android 4.0 and up and takes up a massive 1.9 GB of storage space, so it's advisable to make sure you have enough free space on your Android device before proceeding with the download.
