A new report claims to reveal when HTC will launch its next-gen flagship smartphone, the HTC 10. According to a reliable source, the handset will launch on April 19.

Two of the biggest players in the smartphone world have recently unveiled their 2016 flagship smartphones. LG showed off the LG G5, which has already been confirmed to be released by all four major U.S. carriers in the near future. Samsung launched the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, which have already started shipping to T-Mobile, AT&T and Sprint customers.

Now, attention is turning to HTC, as the company is expected to announce its follow-up to last year's HTC One M9 in the form of the HTC 10. The company has already hinted at its impending launch, tweeting a teaser image of the device, confirming its tweaked design.

HTC went a step further in confirming its next-gen flagship smartphone, when an HTC exec boasted the company's upcoming smartphone would offer users a very, very compelling camera experience and noted this was after seeing what's going on in the market. The statement was made after Samsung and LG debuted their new smartphones.

Recent reports have suggested that HTC is planning to launch the HTC One M10 or HTC 10 at a press event in April. Press renders for the HTC 10 recently made their way online and gave the world its first look at the smartphone from several angles.

Now, the always-reliable Evan Blass has shared some information regarding the HTC 10 launch. He tweeted: "In case it wasn't obvious, I'd say that Tuesday, April 19th — the date on the screen — is nearly a lock for HTC 10 launch."

The image above shows the lock screen of the HTC 10 with its date as Tuesday, April 19. While this date should be taken with a grain of salt, the source has a great track record with important details. We'll keep you updated on any new HTC 10 information as it becomes available.
