In opposition to earlier rumors, a new report has surfaced saying that HTC 10 is not going to run on Windows 10 Mobile.

Last month, rumors have spread suggesting that HTC could be baking its own Windows 10 Mobile-powered handset, based on a Microsoft job listing.

This posting, which was published in December, considers HTC as one of the third-party phone device partners. This also indicates that Microsoft is looking for its Director of Account Management in Taipei, Taiwan, in which HTC is based. The director will also be tasked to work with HTC in developing new Windows 10 Mobile products - specifically in leading "all aspects of sales and business development interaction with HTC."

Evan Blass, a reliable Twitter leaker, firmly says that there won't be a Windows 10 Mobile version of the HTC 10. He says a resounding "no" when asked by a few Twitter users if the HTC 10 is going to run Windows 10 Mobile or if the "10" in its moniker "HTC 10" refers to the Windows mobile operating system.

This implies that HTC has not yet given up on Android for its smartphone.

If this rumor turns out to be true, then many fans of the Microsoft's mobile OS might get disappointed. Perhaps, the news could be surprising, too, as Chia-Lin Chang, HTC's chief financial officer and president of Global Sales, said during the launch of the One M9+ in 2015 that the company was "working closely" with the Redmond-based company in coming up with a Windows 10 device.

"We'll see how the new version of the Windows operating system shapes up and where it fits in the HTC lineup," said Chang during the time.

Tech Times earlier reported that HTC is going to drop the "One M" branding for its next flagship smartphone and will call it instead as the HTC 10, according to renowned leakers OnLeaks and Evan Blass.

In spite of Blass' great track record in giving out accurate leaks, we won't know for sure until we can hear it directly from HTC or Microsoft. As such, it is highly advised that we take this story with a grain of salt. We'll be sure to update you, though, on other HTC 10 news as they become available.
