The CyanogenMod app has finally hit the Google Play Store and the app brings all the features that make flashing the custom ROM extremely easy.

Cyanogen Inc., the company behind the alternative Android firmware, announced the global release of the CyanogenMod Installer on Tuesday, November 12.

CyanogenMod is reportedly favored by 9 million registered users and per the company, the new installer "opens the door for more people to harness the full potential of their Android devices."

"Our goal for the installer has always been to allow more users to experience the benefits of CyanogenMod, without the hassles of technical guides and concerns associated with the process." says Steve Kondik, Co-Founder and CTO of Cyanogen Inc. "I'm especially pleased by the support the community has shown for our initiative and want to thank all those that helped beta test the installer."

While installing the CyanogenMod Installer is not at the click of a button and then you download and boot the device, the app and the accompanying Windows program makes upgrading Android devices relatively simplified.

However, users will be disappointed to learn that Android 4.4 KitKat for CyanogenMod is still in the beta phase (as CyanogenMod 11). Experienced users who wish to install it; however, can do so from here, but be wary of potential bugs.

"We will continue to work on the 10.2 code branch, in parallel to all of our Android 4.4 efforts," notes the CyanogenMod Team. "For those that will inevitably ask, we have not made any decisions with respect to what devices will make the leap to the KitKat code base and likely won't have that information for a few weeks."

Beginners can opt for the CyanogenMod 10, which is based on Android 4.3.1 Jelly Bean.

Currently, only a few devices are supported by the CyanogenMod Installer, which include Samsung's Galaxy S2, Galaxy S3 and Galaxy S4, HTC One as well as the Google Nexus 4 and Nexus 7. A complete list of compatible devices is available here.

To install the CyanogenMod Installer, you will require a Windows PC. It is important to remember that the assistant program works with Windows Vista 7 and Windows Vista 8 but is not compatible with Windows XP.

It is advised that you take a back-up of all your data before installing the ROM and your device's battery is fully charged.

You can download the CyanogenMod Installer from the Google Play Store here.
