So far, Microsoft has come through on its promise of backwards compatibility on the Xbox One. The program has gotten off to a slow start, but as the months go by, more and more Xbox 360 games are being added to Microsoft's current-gen console.

While some of the heavy hitters, like Call of Duty and Red Dead Redemption are still missing from the selection, Microsoft has been consistently updating its list of available games ever since launch.

Now, for the program's monthly update, Microsoft has added three more games to the Xbox One backwards compatibility list: Alan Wake, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night and the original Pac-Man.

It's a rather ... eclectic selection, that much is certain, and there are definitely bigger games that fans have been requesting for months now that are nowhere in sight — but even if the selection is a bit on the weaker side this month, there's still a pair of great games that are definitely worth checking out or downloading a second time.

Alan Wake, the 2010 horror-action hybrid from Remedy Games, is something of a no-brainer: the game's downloadable psuedo-sequel, American Nightmare, was added to the service last month. Some fans were confused as to why the full game didn't get the same treatment, but there could have been technical issues keeping it from hitting the Xbox One — either way, one of Remedy's best games is now available on Microsoft's latest console.

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night is another non-surprise: the game was one of the reasons why Microsoft's Xbox Live Arcade program took off on the original Xbox 360. Plus, it's an absolute classic — if you never picked it up on Microsoft's last console, definitely make sure to grab it now.

Finally, there's Pac-Man. It's not necessarily a strange choice, but with so many different versions of the same game available on Microsoft's last-gen console, it's a little strange that they chose to go with the most basic version available.

One notable absence is the original Dark Souls. Microsoft confirmed that From Software's action-RPG would be making its way to the service as part of a preorder deal with Dark Souls III — unfortunately, no one seems to know when it'll join the other backwards-compatible games.

With these three additions, the Xbox One backwards-compatible library jumps to over 130 games — for every title available on the service, check out the full list.
