When the Pebble was first introduced, it was considered as the first smart watch, and quickly grabbed enough attention on Kickstarter to become the highest crowd funding project on the website. However, Pebble being the highest funded project on Kickstarter is no longer the case, as the crown was recently taken by Coolest.

What is Coolest?

Consider this device as a smart cooler that is capable of doing several things at once. A jack of all trade, but it is not clear yet if it is also a master of all it intends to do. To break it down in specifics, the Coolest is a cooler, but with a battery inside for doing all sorts of cool things.

For example, the Coolest can be transformed into a blender, it can playback music from its built-in speakers, and it can also charge your smartphone or tablet. Furthermore, it has a bulb inside so when the top is opened under the night sky; the user would be able to see what's inside.

It's a cool device, so it is no wonder it has over 50,000 backers on Kickstarter, and funding of over $10,724,298. This number broke Pebble's record of $10,266,845, and it has more than 2 days to go before the campaign ends. We also have to take into consideration that the Coolest only required a minimum pledge of $50,000, so to reach over $10 million is a great achievement.

Now, there's a reason why the Coolest has become the most funding project on Kickstarter so far. The guys behind the device managed to draw the attention of several morning news networks and even on several late night talk shows across the US. It's pretty difficult for the Pebble to compete with that, considering that its Kickstarter success had a lot to with word of mouth on the Internet than anything else.

Still, we can't take anything away from the Coolest. It appears to be a wonderful device for camping and for taking a trip to the beach. It is truly an evolution of the current cooler design that came about in the last 50 years. Success in the marketplace right now will come down to how much the creator chooses to sell it for.
