After weeks of rumors and denials, it looks like Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has finally made his decision on whether or not he will play Black Adam or Shazam for Warner Brothers' upcoming DC Comics adaptation.

The actor took to Twitter today to announce he will indeed be playing Black Adam in what is assumed to be the rumored "Shazam" movie, but no other details (writer, director, other actors or an exact release date) are currently known.

As you can probably tell from the picture above of Black Adam fighting Shazam and the actual tweet, Black Adam isn't the kindest soul in the DC universe. His powers were gifted to him by an ancient wizard in much the same way as Shazam, but Black Adam quickly fell to abusing his powers for evil. Black Adam and Shazam draw their powers from the same source, and, as a result, are reflections of one another, with both having powers that aren't so different from that of Superman's. Some of Adam's powers include super-strength and flight, as well as the ability to harness lightning and use magic.

While Black Adam is traditionally a villain, Johnson's hashtag is correct. Adam more recently has become more of an "anti-hero" attempting to clear his name. The fact that Johnson points to this fact may indicate that the big screen incarnation of the character might not be all bad.

Rumors about Johnson's involvement in a DC universe have been spinning for a while now, with a June rumor pointing towards a "Shazam" film opening in 2016 along with "Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice." The recently announced list of DC comic films coming in the next 10 years reveals that there is a currently-untitled DC film slated for Aug. 5 of 2016, but has yet to be confirmed as "Shazam."

While Black Adam appearing in a "Shazam" film would make the most sense, it is possible he could first appear in "Batman v. Superman" in a smaller role. Also expected to be coming down the pipe are a solo Aquaman film, a standalone Wonder Woman film, and the long awaited Justice League movie.
