Meizu officially unveiled the M3, successor to the company's entry-level M2 model. While the M3 will carry some familiar features found on its older sibling, it also promises to deliver a couple of minor upgrades.

The new Meizu M3 sports a Mediatek MT6750 with an octa-core Cortex-A53 CPU. There will also be two versions available for the users.

The first is a base version that comes with a 2 GB RAM and 16 GB of internal storage. The second will feature a higher 3 GB RAM and 32 GB of storage. Both versions will come equipped with a microSD slot for those who need additional storage space on their devices.

Another notable upgrade is the 2.5D curve found on the handset's 5-inch display. As a result, the M3 now has a surprisingly slim body and feels silky and delicate to the touch due to the advanced coating and spraying process done on its exterior.

The M3 also has a bigger 2,870 mAh battery as compared to the M2's 2,500 mAh battery size.

The new Meizu M3 also retains polycarbonate material for the handset's build and comes in a wide array of bright color options. These include black, white, gray, gold, pink and blue.

The display has an HD resolution of 1,820 x 720 pixels. Other highlights include single/dual SIM card slot, Mali T860 GPU, 13 MP f/2.2 rear camera with phase detection focus, 5 MP f/2.0 front camera, LTE, Bluetooth, GPS, Wi-Fi and a slew of onboard sensors such as magnetometer, ambient light, gyroscope and accelerometer.

As for the dimensions, the new M3 will measure at 5.57 x 2.74 x 0.33 inches, and will tip the scale at 4.66 ounces.

According to Meizu, the M3 (translated) will feature Flyme 5.1, which shall be powered by YunOS for a more optimized power consumption. The CPU uses a unique CorePilot 2.0 heterogeneous computing technology for successful coordination of the eight-core load.

The base model of the Meizu M3 will have a starting price of CNY 599, which is about $92. The 32 GB version of the handset will retail at CNY 799, or about $123 based on current exchange rate.

There's no information on whether the phone will also launch globally, although such event is unlikely to happen on official channels.
