Children pop culture references aren't usually a part of the late night TV circuit. However, there are some children's characters that are just so beloved and so a part of our culture that you don't have to be a 5-year-old to appreciate them. Everyone's favorite ragtag group of neighborhood muppets from "Sesame Street" definitely falls into that category.

Big Bird, Elmo and other "Sesame Street" characters joined Jimmy Fallon during the Sept. 11 episode of "The Tonight Show" to help the late night host read some adorable tweets. And they all seemed to really like the wall in Fallon's "Tonight Show" set. Weird. While Fallon often reads funny, gross or weird tweets during his recurring hashtag segment, these tweets, which include "#WhenIWasAKid," were just downright adorable.

Not only was this hashtag super-appropriate for the "Sesame Street" gang to participate in, but these tweets easily strike a chord with everyone. We all do stupid or strange things when we're kids because we don't know any better, and that's one reason why people look back on childhood so fondly.

Ah, the days when you could pretty much get away with saying or doing anything, such as sending basketball player Scottie Pippen a Band-Aid for an injury, slicing hot dogs with your dad's guitar strings or thinking 50 Cent's hit "In Da Club" began, "Go Charlote, it's your birthday." We all wish we could get away with doing stupid things by using the excuse, "But I'm just a kid."

Either having "Sesame Street" characters on Fallon's shows really boosts his ratings or Fallon is a "Sesame Street" superfan because he often finds a way to squeeze in the lovable muppets. Last year, Fallon and The Roots sang the "Sesame Street" theme song with the characters, accompanied by children's instruments. During Adam Levine's recent appearance on "The Tonight Show" as he spun the "Wheel of Musical Impressions," he sang the "Sesame Street" theme song in the style of Michael Jackson.

Speaking of the theme song to "Sesame Street," some people are still kind of ticked off that we never actually learned how to get to one of the world's most famous streets. Big Bird read the final tweet of the night that begged them to "Answer the question!" Fallon of course replied, "I know how to get there, and I'll see you guys over there." Take us with you, Fallon.
