Destiny players have long begged Bungie to implement some kind of matchmaking system for the game's end game raids. While the developer isn't going that far, it will soon be making the search for a suitable fireteam much, much easier.

As detailed in the developer's weekly update, Bungie will soon be linking the existing recruitment forum to the Destiny companion app.

"The #Recruitment forum is always there for you to solicit allies, but it's traditionally been a chaotic wall of potential Fireteams," Bungie writes. "We've had some ideas for how that could work better, and we've been executing on them. Very soon, we'll be enhancing our forum with new ways to form up and roll out into the Solar System."

With the update, players will be able to browse a simplified version of the recruitment forum in search of a group. Players will be able to sort those looking for teammates by console and activity, which should help speed up the entire process of finding somebody to play with.

If you can't find an existing group that meets your needs, you can easily create your own recruitment listing to have teammates find you. You'll be able to specify how many group members you're searching for, what activities you're looking to do and even whether or not having a microphone is required.

"If you don't find a Fireteam that suits your needs, you'll be able to start your own Topic to rally new teammates to your side," Bungie says. "Design the ideal experience to be shared with Guardians you've never met, and ensure that they'll show up packing the gear they need to swap some tactical chatter with you."

The feature is a welcome addition, but it remains to be seen how popular the tool will be given how there are already numerous websites used for this exact purpose. Bungie has taken so long in streamlining its team-finding features that numerous fan-run websites already do the job well.

That being said, nobody's going to complain about Bungie giving players more ways to find teammates, though it's a little baffling that it took Bungie this long to implement such a feature. Destiny is a game that isn't much fun all by your lonesome, so having the ability to easily find a fireteam is almost required.

Bungie says all signs are pointing toward the recruitment function being added to the app next week.
