Bungie has delivered the foundation of fixes for Destiny's melee system, but the developer will wait until next week to flip the switch on those updates. And while it was putting together that package, Bungie tossed in a few other fixes for other issues that have been scurrying around the game.

After releasing Destiny's big April update, Bungie indicated that there were still a few things "bugging" the game and the studio. But the studio's primary focus appears to have been giving the melee system a bit more punch.

Those who have thrown punches in Destiny that landed and did no damage were addressed by Bungie Community Manager David Dague in a blog post last week.

"Yeah, us too," said Dague. "Ever thrown a punch (or a shoulder) that seemed to 'whiff' right past your intended target when you were so sure it would land? Yup, the same thing happened to us, so we put one of our top men on it."

That guy, one of the top men, is Sandbox Engineer Jon Cable and he came up with to fixes for melee attacks. The first fix adjusted the netcode to better report a player's position and improved its strike validation logic, so that guardians will no longer unwittingly strike from too far back or fall victim to delivering a punch that scores no points.

The melee system changes won't go live until Tuesday, May 10 at 1 p.m. ET/10 a.m. PT. But the update's following changes are live now:

Activities

  •  Fixed loot generation issues for chests in original Prison of Elders challenge (Levels 32, 34 and 35)
  •  Corrected Ghost drops for Weekly Nightfall

Quests

  •  Resolved issues that prevented completion of "With Finesse and Speed"
  •  Closed a loophole that enabled players to purchase Dreadfang before completing the required quest

Items

  •  Resolved an issue that didn't properly facilitate progression for Factions
  •  Fixed geometry of "Spektar Grasps" item on last gen consoles
  •  Fixed Cryptarch Rank Up packages to properly give out Year 1 Engrams
  •  Fixed a bug that allowed Universal Remote to decrypt from Special Weapon engrams when set as primary
