Beware as the "undead apocalypse is upon us," courtesy of Hyundai's "The Walking Dead Chop Shop."

The Walking Dead Chop Shop by Hyundai Motor America was created as a marketing app to get people drawn to its vehicles.

The application revolves around making your "zombie survival machine", which in other words, is one of the three cars that the shop lets you pick.

"This infection continues to spread. Walkers are everywhere. Inside, we've gathered 3 vehicles and nearly 900 parts. Use them to build your zombie survival machine. Choose wisely. And move fast. Your survival depends on it," reads the description.

Users can add various kinds of weapons like the hood scoop, wrought iron cage, machete, mortar, morning stars, automatic shotgun, horde plow and more to protect their Hyundai car against zombie attacks in the impending zombie apocalypse.

The app uses the walking dead as its background, which is a clever addition and works well. The moot point is if your car is ready for the apocalypse, you will be safe from the zombies that roam the globe.

While the weapons make your car look ugly, they are quite successful in combating zombies in your fight for survival. However, do remember that you only have 5000 points to spend when creating the ultimate anti-zombie machine and each weapon addition costs you some points.

Once you're done creating the car, you have the option of renaming the vehicle and then save it. However, the downer is that you can only do this by sharing it via either Twitter or Facebook, which seems forced.

Also, your car gets a survival percentage stamped on it (was 75 percent in my case). You also have the option of giving your car a lick of paint before saving it so try and get it to look as scary and post-apocalyptic as you can imagine. Those who have created more than one car, can check their garage as all the cars created are stored here.

You can also check out the car of the week which has a high rating and a nice paint job, but if you're trying to go neck-to-neck with your friends, then be prepared to be disappointed, as you cannot check out their cars. Unless of course they share it via Facebook or Twitter!

Pros

The app is quite engaging and it is fun prepping for the apocalypse.

There are plenty of weapons to choose from.

There are plenty of armor options.

The graphics and UI are pretty neat and loads of customizations are on offer.

The app is FREE!

Cons

The fact that you have to log in Via Twitter or Facebook to save your car creation is quite a dampener.

Three cars are not much of an option and can get boring, more cars would have been better.

The ability to ride the cars would have made the game more action packed.

Can be a tad glitch ridden as sometimes the numbers do not display properly.

Uses a lot of space (331MB in size) if you're using it on your phone.

Should be a simpler way to get points than answering trivia questions.

Ho-hum graphics.

At the end of the day, it is a promotional app!

Verdict

Overall a cool app and a great time waster, if you can reconcile with the mandatory logging in to Facebook or Twitter.
