Information regarding Apple's next flagship smartphone, the iPhone 7, has been filling up the rumor mill recently, with one of the latest reports claiming that the smartphone's camera will pack optical image stabilization technology. The feature was previously only seen in the Plus models of the iPhone.

A new report, sourced from French website NowhereElse, reveals what is said to be a prototype rear case for the iPhone 7. The case seemingly reveals a few pieces of previously unknown information regarding the smartphone.

The case, which was said to have been acquired from an Italian accessory manufacturer, features holes for four separate speakers on the iPhone. Two grilles for speakers are shown to have been cut on the top edge of the case and another two along its bottom edge.

In addition to the speaker holes, the case hints at a new layout for the device's rear camera and flash, with a hole for a larger aperture.

As expected, the case does not have a hole for the 3.5mm headphone jack, which is said to be no longer supported by the iPhone 7, as Apple will be switching to the Lightning connector. However, the four-speaker setup is new, though it raises questions on whether so many speakers would be necessary on the iPhone.

The case is supposedly for the iPhone 7, as the iPhone 7 Plus is expected to feature a dual-camera module. However, the larger aperture, as hinted by the case's hole, could mean that the iPhone 7 will also have an improved camera but just not as much as the dual-camera iPhone 7 Plus.

As with any rumor, the information on the iPhone 7 hinted by the leaked case should be taken with a grain of salt until the smartphone has been officially unveiled. The accessory, however, is an unexpected twist in what is already a long-winding thread of rumors for Apple's upcoming flagship smartphone.
