Players signing up for a Battle.net account can choose a name, known as a BattleTag, to identify themselves with. The BattleTag can then be used by the player across all of Blizzard's games, including World of Warcraft, the Diablo titles, and the upcoming Overwatch.

Gamers get up to one free name change for their BattleTag, but once that pass has been used up, the name is locked in forever.

For players that have used up their free name change but still ended up with a BattleTag that they are now regretting, Blizzard has good news for you.

In celebration of the release of Overwatch, Blizzard is offering all gamers a chance to change their BattleTag. The information was tweeted by the official Twitter account of Heroes of the Storm, among other sources.

"We often see feedback with requests to update your BattleTag, and as we move into a new universe filled with soldiers, scientists, adventurers and oddities it's important that you have a nickname that represents you!" wrote Blizzard in a statement.

It should be noted, however, that for gamers that have not yet taken up the free name change for their BattleTag, Blizzard's offer does not mean that you will not be able to change your name twice. Blizzard has only reset the count for name changes, effectively giving back the name change pass to all Battle.net players that have already used it.

For users that would like to avail the offer, simply head to the Account Management Dashboard of the Battle.net client and then click on the Change button next to the BattleTag.

There seems to be no time limit for when gamers can avail the free name change, so there is no rush to think of a replacement name right away for an embarrassing BattleTag. Gamers should take their time, or else they might end up getting another BattleTag that they will regret in the future.
