T-Mobile customers really wanted that free pizza.

The newly launched T-Mobile Tuesdays app was down for the most part of the day on Tuesday after it was overwhelmed by the amount of users trying to get into the app.

The app that serves as a reward program for T-Mobile customers was announced by the company's CEO John Legere on Monday as a way to give thanks and show customer appreciation.

Starting on June 7, all T-Mobile customers are able to get a medium two-topping pizza from Domino's, a small Frosty from Wendy's and a movie rental from the video on-demand service VUDU for free with no purchase necessary. This offer will be available every Tuesday moving forward with new prizes and gifts added as more companies partner up with the Un-carrier.

All customers have to do is download the T-Mobile Tuesdays app for free for iOS and Android to get their free gifts.

But things didn't really go according to the company's plan because the app wasn't working all day—on the day it launched— because the servers could not keep up with the high demand of users trying to access their freebies.

Upon opening the app (after entering the four-digit code sent to the user's mobile device), it failed to load and featured a message that read, "This is awkward ... There was an error attempting to contact the server."

Users were prompted to try refreshing the page, but the app would still not work.

T-Mobile clearly didn't prepare better for its more than 60 million customers to try to cash in on their free food at the same time.

Legere addressed the problem on his Twitter account, revealing that customers will still get their free pizza as the company continued to work on the issue.

The app was up and running with the server issues resolved by early evening.

T-Mobile Tuesdays app gives away free food, movies and other freebies. It was announced alongside other perks new customers and preexisting Simple Choice customers who make the move to the Un-carrier plan and open a new postpaid account can enjoy such as owning stock in the company.

Customers can only hope that this problem won't happen again next week when the same offer and new surprises are added to the app.
