The action-adventure game LEGO Dimensions is about to get even more exciting, thanks to the addition of new expansion packs set to arrive beginning this fall.

The new expansion packs for LEGO Dimensions Year 2 will feature an array of new characters from existing Warner Bros. franchises, including those from The A-Team, Adventure Time, Harry Potter, Mission Impossible and the new Ghostbusters movie.

LEGO and Warner Bros. made the announcement that the first pack, the Ghostbusters Story Pack, will arrive this fall. Other packs will release before summer 2017, including a LEGO Batman Movie pack, as well as a pack based on the Harry Potter-based movie Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them. Fans can even expect The Goonies to turn up in LEGO Dimensions, along with Gremlins, Beetlejuice, The Powerpuff Girls and more.

Packs will allow players to continue playing LEGO Dimensions and insert these new characters at any point in the game. This means players won't need new starter packs to access these new stories and characters.

"We've built upon the existing LEGO Dimensions Starter Pack to expand the gameplay possibilities with entirely new LEGO experiences that can't be found anywhere else," TT Games Managing Director Tom Stone said in a press release. "We can now provide players with even more customization and mash-up opportunities, and all are compatible with the existing game and packs."

The new expansions will also include battle arenas that will allow players to go head-to-head with four other players. Each minifigure purchased from the wave six through nine expansion packs will get a special toy tag that unlocks a battle arena in the Free Play Adventure World of that particular franchise. For example, a Harry Potter minifigure's tag will unlock a Harry Potter-themed battle arena.

"We are excited to continue our partnership with TT Games and WBIE and bring even more characters to life through LEGO Dimensions," Vice President of Digital Games for LEGO Niels Jørgensen said. "The videogame has allowed our fans to extend their LEGO play experience in a whole new way and the new expansion packs will create even more play possibilities through exciting properties."

The first pack, the Ghostbusters Story Pack, will provide a brand-new story revolving around the upcoming Ghostbusters movie. That pack releases on Sept. 27, with other packs to follow throughout the year and into 2017.
