Samsung has a new campaign called "Captured on the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge," showing off amazing footage shot in 4K Ultra HD.

It's no big secret that Samsung and Apple are long-standing archrivals and the competition between the two is quite heated at the high end of the smartphone market. Samsung's new campaign is the company's answer to Apple's "Shot on iPhone" campaign, aiming to prove the superiority of the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge cameras.

Truth be told, Samsung has good reasons to take pride in the camera prowess of its latest flagships. Not that the iPhone camera is not good, but the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 edge take things to the next level.

Samsung actually dialed down the pixels with its latest flagships, focusing instead on quality rather than quantity. In low-light scenarios, for instance, the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge can take better, brighter photos than their Galaxy S6 predecessor, while outperforming the iPhone 6s as well.

As a reminder, the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge feature 12-megapixel rear cameras, compared to the 16-megapixel shooters of the Galaxy S6 series. However, the Galaxy S7's pixel size moved to 1.4 μm from the Galaxy S6's 1.12 μm pixel size. The aperture is also wider at f/1.7 instead of the Galaxy S6's f/1.9 and the new Sony IMX260 sensor fitted in the new flagship is arguably better than the previous IMX240 found on last year's iteration. As a result, the Galaxy S7 can capture up to 95 percent more light than the Galaxy S6.

While the camera specs on paper tell a promising story, actual samples may weigh more. If a picture is worth a thousand words, a 4K Ultra HD video shot with the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge should write a new chapter altogether.

Both the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge boast Dual Pixel technology, which integrates neat focusing options you'd normally find on a DSLR camera. As video is the best way to demonstrate instant focus, seamlessly switching from front to back and vice versa, it makes sense that Samsung chose to show off the Galaxy S7 series' camera prowess with 4K UHD video footage.

The video sample showcases good focus, great stability, vivid and vibrant colors and some amazing scenery. The level of detail is quite impressive and there's no denying that the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge rock impressive cameras.
