Despite not holding a formal press conference and only showing off a handful of games, Nintendo is enjoying immense E3 success thanks to an extensive look at Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

However, the latest Zelda game isn't the only thing fans are eyeing. Nintendo also showed off Mario Party: Star Rush for Nintendo 3DS, and as spotted by one Nintendo fan, it appears that the box art for the game is ripped straight from a can of Nintendo-themed SpaghettiOs.

In all likelihood, the piece of art featuring Mario, Luigi, Peach and Toad existed long before it adorned a can of Campbell's soup. This same piece of artwork may have been featured a number of other products as well, for all we know. No doubt, Nintendo keeps a number of stock Mario images for such promotional purposes.

What's clear, however, is that it sure appears lazy for Nintendo's new Mario Party game to be using stock Mario artwork rather than something new. Most gamers, after all, expect a game's box art to be original and not simply a piece of promo art featured on numerous other products.

Funnily enough, the checkered background seen on the Mario Party: Star Rush box art is also the pattern used in Photoshop to represent a transparent background. While it might not be intentional on Nintendo's part, it just further adds to perception that this new Mario Party game isn't high on the company's priority list, as they can't even be bothered to cook up an original piece of artwork for it.

Perhaps, given all the attention, Nintendo will look into giving the game some proper box art. Even if it doesn't, it's not likely to matter. Legend of Zelda is what's on everybody's mind, not the latest Mario Party spin-off. Twitter data shows that Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild proved to be the most tweeted-about game of E3 this year, blowing away competition like Battlefield 1, God of War and Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare. With that in mind, it seems likely that Nintendo isn't too worried about a handful of fans noticing that the box art for Mario Party: Star Rush isn't all that original.
