Samsung, which has launched at least a dozen variants of Galaxy smartphones this year, isn't showing any signs of slowing down - the South Korean handset maker has released yet another smartphone named Samsung Galaxy Grand 2, which is a follow-up to the original Galaxy Grand that launched in December last year.

Galaxy Grand 2 sports a massive 5.25-inch display, which supports resolution of 1280x720 pixels. The aspect ratio of the screen is 16:9 or the same aspect ratio which is the international standard format for full HD and is being used in TVs and computer monitors.

The smartphone packs a powerful quad-core 1.2 GHz processor and includes a 2,600mAh battery, which is capable of providing up to 17 hours of voice and 10 hours of playback on a single charge. Expectedly, the phone has a dual sim slots, but a big letdown is the fact that it doesn't support 4G LTE. It means you'll have to be content with the HSPA+ support instead.

Running Android 4.3 Jelly Bean at the core, the device has 1.5GB RAM and internal storage of just 8GB which, however, can be expanded up to 64GB via external microSD card.

Galaxy Grand 2 boasts of 8-megapixel primary auto-focus camera that comes with LED flash and many intuitive features like Best Face, Best Photo, and Continuous Shot. The front facing HD camera - for video chats - is 1.9-megapixel. The rarely used multi-window feature is also retained in Galaxy Grand 2.

While the Galaxy Grand already sported a bigger-than-average screen size, the launch of Galaxy Grand 2 indicates that Samsung is serious in bridging the gap between smartphones and phablets, at least in terms of screen size.

Galaxy Grand 2 will be available in White, Black and Pink colors. No announcement yet on price and availability date.
