Ben Affleck may be making the rounds promoting his new film Gone Girl, but that isn't stopping reporters from attempting to pry more information about Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice out of the acclaimed actor and director.

Talking with MTV News, Affleck didn't offer much to say on Zack Snyder's upcoming film. He did, however, talk a little about how big an influence Frank Miller's legendary comic The Dark Knight Returns is on Snyder and Batman v. Superman.

"Yeah, I don't want to answer too many Batman questions because it is a Gone Girl thing, but I will say that I think Zack [Snyder] was heavily influenced by that," Affleck says in the above video interview. "I think everyone's heavily influenced by that...that's the seminal work. So, I don't think that there's any of these which have been made that haven't drawn from that book because it's so good."

Footage leaked from Comic-Con earlier this year definitely seems to confirm what Affleck is saying. The footage showed an armored Batman that looked very similar to the armored Batsuit Bruce Wayne uses to battle it out with Superman in the comic. The image above is taken from The Dark Knight Returns and can likely give fans a good idea of what to expect from the film. Judging from the leaked footage, a fight between the two superheroes like the one above didn't look too far off. Miller's influence is clear, and Zack Snyder has said on record multiple times the film is drawing inspiration from the iconic work.

Affleck, for his part, seems to agree with the decision, saying in the interview, "So, you know, I think if you're smart you steal from the best."

Unlike The Dark Knight Returns, Batman v. Superman will be featuring Wonder Woman, Aquaman and the possibility of other DC Comic heroes. While it won't be a direct adaptation of Miller's work, it isn't called Batman v. Superman for nothing. When two heroes inevitably come to blows it looks like Snyder will be drawing heavily from the source material.
