Today is the first day of October, which is the month when Columbus Day, the World Series and Halloween all take place. But even more so than all of those well-known occasions, October is perhaps most famously known for being Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

If you've lived through an October before, you probably know that there will be many events, walks and special promotions all in the name of raising money and awareness for this devastating disease that had an estimated number of new cases of nearly 300,000 in the U.S. in 2014. However, no one has done anything quite like this before.

The Breast Cancer Foundation, an organization based in Singapore that works to eliminate breast cancer as a life-threatening disease, enlisted the help of the advertising firm DDB Group Singapore to create a series of ads targeted at an increasingly mobile and social media-obsessed world. DDB Group Singapore redesigned the iconic Facebook, Twitter and Instagram logos to promote breast exams among women. The clever logos don't leave much to the imagination, reminding women to perform self-exams as often as they check their social feeds.

The organization also launched an online campaign asking people to sign a petition to get Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to use these redesigned logos during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. At the time of this writing, 666 people have pledged to support the cause, while 9,846 more supporters are needed.

Now that would probably be the best use of social media any of us have seen in a long time.
