Shoppers can use the Snap app to compile grocery lists, mixing in Groupon's featured items to rack up cash-back rewards. Once users have accumulated at least $20 in rewards, they can cash out.

"Snap is the latest way that we're helping people discover new brands and save money on the things they buy every day," said Sean Smyth, vice president and general manager of Snap. "We're using the power of smartphones to make couponing easier and more convenient while paying people to shop."

To celebrate the launch of Snap, Groupon is offering the following deals:

$1 cash back on any gallon of milk; $1 cash back on any bread purchase over $1; 75-cents cash back on any Barilla sauce; 50-cents off Chobani Flips and Chobani Oats; $1 cash back on any Country Crock or I Can't Believe It's Not Butter! Spread; $1 cash back on any two frozen meals, rice, or appetizers from PF Chang; $1 cash back on any Hidden Valley Bottled salad dressing; $1 cash back on any Glad trash bags; $3 cash back on Huggies diapers; and $2 cash back on Huggies wipes.

To further entice users into downloading Snap, Groupon is holding a drawing that will award app users with a year's worth of free groceries. Users need only submit an image of a grocery store receipt through Snap.

"Snap builds on Groupon's enormous mobile footprint of almost 92 million global app downloads, while allowing brands to connect with shoppers in a far more personal and targeted way," said Smyth.

Snap is available to Android and iOS users in the U.S. and Canada.

On the other side of the deals, Groupon recently expanded its Deal Builder tool to include restaurants. The reworked self-service tool gives merchants more control over the appearance and structure of the deals they offer through Groupon.

"Deal Builder has enabled us to vastly expand the number of merchants with whom we work and enhance the ways we help them promote and build their business through Groupon," said Julie Szudarek, senior vice president of Local Deals. "More than 95 percent of the businesses that have built deals through the platform have been new to Groupon, which has helped us expand the selection and geographic reach of our marketplace."
