Blizzard is advising Overwatch players against using the glitch in Lucioball that allows them to select a different hero other than Lucio.

Game Director Jeffrey Kaplan posted on the Battle.net forums about the issue, hinting at penalties coming to those who continue to abuse the bug.

"Apologies for this bug. We've attempted to fix it numerous times and have had unrelated issues preventing the fix. We hope to have a fix this week. In the meantime, we are in discussions with our Customer Support group to start taking action against those deliberately using the bug to play heroes other than Lucio. Please do not exploit this bug. Fair warning," he says.

Based on Kaplan's statement, it seems that those who inadvertently abuse the glitch or maybe try it once for curiosity's sake won't be penalized, but to be on the safe side, it's better not to give it a shot at all, especially because of this tweet:

For those who aren't up to speed, Lucioball is a new limited-time game mode that Blizzard introduced as part of the Summer Games update to celebrate the 2016 Olympics that's being held in Rio. It pretty much took cues from Psyonix's Rocket League, but instead of cars, it features a three-on-three match with everyone using Lucio.

On top of that, it also came with limited-edition Loot Boxes that has more than 100 items in store, including sprays, highlight intros, skins and even legendary ones, emotes and many others. However, those who want to collect them all will have to play a ton of matches this month, as they are only available until Aug. 22. To clear things up, players can purchase them normally, and they don't have to play Lucioball to earn them.

Needless to say, the glitch is game breaking, as players who pick out other heroes have an unfair advantage over the opposing team, particularly when they use someone like Torbjörn, whose turrets recently got nerfed on the PS4 back in July.

Long story short, if you want to steer clear of any possible punishments coming your way, don't abuse the glitch in Lucioball, even if it's only for a one-time deal.
