Remember the Analogue Nt aluminum NES? Well, it's getting a smaller and cheaper sibling called the Analogue Nt mini — an appropriate moniker, really.

At first glance, the difference between the new version and the older one is the size. The updated model is 20 percent smaller, and more than that, it weighs 34 percent less and bears a more affordable price tag.

The Analogue Nt already offered a near authentic experience that the original NES delivered, as it housed Japan-imported guts and innards that Nintendo itself manufactured.

The question is, why did it need a new iteration? Well, it's because the people behind the NES remake only had enough stock of the parts to ship out the early batches, not to mention that it's not exactly easy to find more of those in the market.

According to Ars Technica, the developers opted to use components that can more or less provide a similar experience that the first one did. To be exact, the new model is going to use a field-programmable gate array or FPGA to make the chips inside work the same as the NES ones.

As for the price, the Analogue Nt mini is going to hold back customers by $449, and out of the box, it's going to include the Retro Receiver for NES, an HDMI cable, a USB cable, a wireless Bluetooth 8Bitdo NES30 Controller and a power supply that comes with four head sockets.

That's a big price drop compared with the original that fetched a $579 asking price when it's bundled together with the HDMI upgrade.

Those who want to get their hands on it should know that it's already up for preorder, and it's expected to start shipping out sometime in January 2017. There are two colors to choose from: the classic aluminum or black. However, the second option will bump up the total cost by $49, clocking in at $498 in total.

It's also worth mentioning that Nintendo is set to roll out the NES Classic Edition, and it's perfect for the fans who want a system from the company itself. Stacking up against the Analogue Nt mini and its predecessor, it's a whole deal cheaper at $59.99, and on top of that, it'll arrive sooner on Nov. 11. However, it'll only support 30 preinstalled games.
