While everyone is getting ready for Apple to unveil the anticipated iPhone 7 on Sept. 7 at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco, it isn't the only new smartphone announcement that techies can expect during the month of press events.

HTC is reportedly getting ready to announce the latest version of its own iPhone copycat sometime before the IFA consumer electronic show located in Berlin from Sept. 2 to 7.

According to a recent report, the company is expected to unveil the One A9s, which will be the updated version of the One A9 smartphone that is known to be modeled after Apple's iPhone 6.

While few details are known about the One A9s, the new device will most likely resemble the previous model with some slight changes.

However, the most notable change to the HTC One A9s is in regard to the placement of the rear- and front-facing cameras. Instead of having the rear-facing camera centered, the lens will now be off to the left-hand side when looking at the back, just like the iPhone 6s. The front-racing camera will also be on the left.

The rear-facing camera is expected to remain at 13 MP, whereas the front will go from 4 UltraPixels to 5 MP.

Design-wise, there don't seem to be other major differences besides the camera placement compared with the One A9.

There will be no HTC logo on the front of the new smartphone like the One A9, but it will be featured on the backside.

The One A9s will reportedly be available in white, black, gold and blue/silver color options, a different direction from the recent rose gold trend of Apple.

Even so, the One A9s looks eerily similar to the iPhone 6s. It's even strange that HTC decided to throw the "s" in the smartphone's title, something that is so signature to Apple.

Consumers can expect to soon learn more about HTC's latest smartphone, including what version of Android it will run on, its processor, price and release date over the next few days.

The five-inch HTC One A9, with its 1920 by 1080 AMOLED display, octa-core Snapdragon 617 processor and either 2 GB RAM/16 GB storage or 3 GB RAM/32 GB storage is currently available starting at $429.99, but was originally retailed for $499.99. The One A9s may have a price point that is similar to this model when it launches, which could very well be a cheaper alternative to the iPhone 7.

Rumor has it that HTC will unveil the One A9s on Sept. 1.
