Sony is expected to launch a couple of new smartphones: Xperia XZ and Xperia X Compact at the IFA 2016 and press renders of the mobile phones have leaked ahead of the event.

Sony will be showcasing a number of new products at the IFA 2016 but the company has not confirmed details about these devices. Rumors of the Xperia XZ (previously known as Xperia XR) and the Xperia X Compact have been doing the rounds in the market for several months.

Various leaked images of the two handsets have also emerged online. However, the latest renders that come courtesy of XperiaBlog are very convincing and shows the smartphones from various angles. XperiaBlog also refers to the leaked images as "press photos," which suggests that Sony may use these to promote the upcoming phones.

If the leaked renders are to be believed then both the Xperia phones will have curved edge and will support USB Type -C. Previous rumors have suggested that Sony may use dual-camera setup in the upcoming phones. However, the leaked renders of the Xperia XZ and the Xperia X Compact does not confirm if the handsets will include dual-camera.

According to the leaked images the LED flash, lens and two unknown sensors are aligned vertically at the back of the Xperia XZ. The camera setup on the back of the Xperia X Compact flows horizontally instead of vertically, although it includes the same LED flash, lens and sensors.

The renders also highlight that both the Xperia XZ and the Xperia X Compact will have fingerprint sensors located at the side of the device, which is in the same position on previous phones in the Xperia X series.

The Xperia XZ could be available in three hues: dark blue, silver and gold. The Xperia X Compact may be available in sky blue, white or black color options.

The images also show both the Xperia XZ and the Xperia X Compact in their respective flip cases, which could be available in a frost-like translucent finish.

The Xperia XZ is estimated to have a 5.2-inch screen, while the Xperia X Compact may sport a 4.6-inch display. Rumor has it that a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor will power both the Xperia devices. Prices of the two phones remain unknown, but the Xperia X Compact is likely to be cheaper than the Xperia XZ.

Even though, the two handsets will be launched at the IFA 2016 on Sept. 1, the phones are expected to hit the shelves on Sept. 24.
