Katy Kats all over the world have another reason to "roar" for their favorite pop singer. Katy Perry will be taking the spotlight at the Super Bowl XLIX Halftime Show.

This announcement comes right off the heels of her previous comments to ESPN's Gameday crew, scoffing the NFL's reported pay-to-play policy for Halftime acts.

Previous reports indicated that aside from Perry, Rihanna and Coldplay were also considered and invited to perform at the widely viewed Super Bowl show.

In the past, Perry said that she was "not the kind of girl" to play the Super Bowl.

Whatever differences her camp may have had with NFL organizers seem to have been sorted out and swept under the rug with the announcement confirming her performance. She will frontline the show on Feb. 1 in Glendale, Ariz.

Observers say that Perry is actually a good pick for the show, which is watched around the country by families. Unlike many past acts, Perry is considered family-friendly; mishaps such as Janet Jackson's infamous "wardrobe malfunction" can be avoided.

Perry is currently on tour to promote her latest studio album Prism, but will be able to "Roar" at the Super Bowl right before she jets off to Europe next year for her next leg of concerts and performances across the pond.

Bruno Mars headlined the last Super Bowl Halftime Show with a special appearance by the Red Hot Chili Peppers. A reported 111.5 million viewers tuned in to watch that game between the Seattle Seahawks and Denver Broncos.

Other Super Bowl Halftime performances in the past include Madonna and Beyoncé.

Next year's Super Bowl show will be sponsored by Pepsi. Although Perry has no official contract with the company, they have already partnered with Perry in the past to promote her concert-movie Part of Me.
