The much-rumored Xiaomi Mi Note 2 smartphone could possibly be hitting the shelves in a couple of weeks, if a new leak is to be believed.

The Xiaomi Mi Note 2, which is rumored to come in two different configurations, could be launched on Sept. 24 according to a new leak on the social networking site Weibo, which is the Chinese equivalent of Twitter.

The leak was first spotted by publication AndroidPure and hints at the phablet's debut being Sept. 24. The site shares the image of what is possibly the promo poster.

"The leak comes in the form of a teaser for a launch event but with just in the form of number with 9.24 written on it (which is short form of 24th September) along with Xiaomi logo and the Mi Note 2 on top," according to the publication.

The image shared by the publication (below) does not reveal much barring the date.

Since Sept. 24 falls on a Saturday, it would be an odd day to launch a flagship device. A possibility exists that Xiaomi would make the Mi Note 2 available for purchases to consumers on this date, but announce the handset a few days earlier.

The probability of an earlier debut makes sense as another leak on Weibo (below) pointed to a Sept. 14 date for the Xiaomi Mi Note 2.

Interestingly, this leak touts the "finally confirmed" rumors of the device being "officially released" on Sept. 14. The leakster also reaffirms that the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 will house the Snapdragon 821 processor, a curved screen and dual rear camera setup.

The leakster also hinted at the smartphone sporting a 5.7-inch 2K display, instead of the previously rumored 5.5-inch screen size. The Mi Note 2, according to the leak, could also house a 13-megapixel dual camera on the rear of the device. The successor of the Mi Note will allegedly cost 2,999 yuan, which is equivalent to about $450.

With two different leaks offering different release dates for the Android-powered Xiaomi Mi Note 2, it will be interesting to see which one hits the mark. That said, the leaked poster image shared by AndroidPure seems authentic and could be the real deal — even if it means Xiaomi is breaking from convention and unveiling the smartphone over the weekend.

Nevertheless, fans of the Xiaomi Mi Note who have been eagerly waiting for the successor's advent will likely see the phablet arrive in a few days from now!
