Apple has already announced that its much-awaited iOS 10 firmware will be pushed out to users of compatible iPads, iPods and iPhones from Tuesday, Sept. 13.

With the software update poised to arrive in a few days from now, users are eagerly awaiting to upgrade their iDevices and make the most of the slew of new features iOS 10 brings.

For those who are keen on downloading the final version of the OS from Apple — which has been in beta since June — here's what you need to do:

Check For Compatibility

Before you get all excited, the first step would be to check if iOS 10 is compatible with your device. The list of devices compatible with the latest OS are as follows:

iPhone:

iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6, iPhone SE, iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c and iPhone 5

iPad:

iPad Pro - 12.9-inch and 9.7-inch, iPad Air 2, iPad Air, iPad mini 4, iPad mini 3, iPad mini 2 and iPad 4.

The sixth-gen iPod Touch is also compatible with iOS 10. The iPad 2 and iPad 3, however, are out of luck, same with iPad mini 1, fifth-gen iPod Touch and iPhone 4s.

How To Download?

Come Sept. 13, folks in some parts of the world will benefit from iOS 10's roll out. Once the software update is available, the device will get an alert from Apple that the update is ready to be installed.

Users can then head to Settings> General> Software Update > iOS 10 and then tap on the install now option. Follow the instructions. Once the update has been downloaded, users can get to test out the nifty new features.

Remember to back-up important data prior to installing the update and ensure that there is sufficient memory and at least 50 percent battery charge on the device.
