It's hard to imagine that Batman has been around for 75 years. In fact, the only modern day superhero that even comes close to that lineage is Superman. Batman is an icon, a hero of comics and pop culture alike. He's become one of the most beloved characters in history, regardless of medium. He's a comic book character, he's in movies, he's in video games and he's even on stamps - Batman is one of the few truly timeless characters.

DC has been celebrating the Caped Crusader's anniversary all throughout 2014 with a number of different events and releases. The Batman 75th Anniversary gallery opens Friday, Oct. 24 through Nov. 15. The show will feature numerous different artists using a wealth of different mediums, and will even show off a number of the Dark Knight's different incarnations. There are tributes to the classic comics, the Adam West show from the '60s, and even tributes to classic episodes of Batman: The Animated Series. There are some truly amazing pieces on display, and frankly, that's putting it lightly.

Though Batman originally debuted on March 30, 1939, DC has used all of 2014 to celebrate Bruce Wayne's birthday. The Mondo Gallery show is just the latest in a long line of events, including new animated films, new merchandise, and a little show called Gotham. Bruce Timm, one of the key talents behind Batman: The Animated Series, even took time to direct a tribute to some of the Dark Knight's earliest stories:

So, if you happen to live near Austin, the Batman 75th Anniversary show definitely looks like it's worth checking out. For all information on both the show and the gallery itself, check out the official website.
